One of the best pasture management tools
Pasture control - greatly improved
Control over your pasture and the underground soil conditions when using a Redpath clear-roofed deep-litter floored Standoffshelter is a major benefit to farm productivity. By being able to standoff the cow's for long periods of time the pasture can be "managed" in various ways.
Removing the cow's from the pasture when grass levels are low and not allowing them to over-graze or eat the grass back to the roots, - offers large benefits when the grass growth returns. Grass recovery rate can be twice as quick when not "over-grazed" , and the benefits to your farm and its production become quickly noticeable when pasture is available.
A very common problem on many farms is pugging or compaction of pasture / paddocks. Pugging conditions can be either 100% avoided with a Redpath clear-roofed shelter or much reduced. The savings to the farms pasture recovery and or replacement costs is obvious, and on wetter farms the ability to pull cows off from wet pasture is the single most important factor when operating a Redpath clear-roofed Standoffshelter.
Avoiding pugging can also be an animal welfare consideration + If muddied or pugged pastures can be avoided the solid/silt run-off from the farm can improve the farms environmental impact and offer future-proofing of the business to some extent.
