Full containment option

There are three styles of Redpath clear-roofed full containment options.  Each style has been designed to suit the individual farmers needs and also so that the concrete base systems are simple in design and may be installed by most competent concrete installers nationwide.
The extra expense in these systems is unavoidable due to the use of a higher % of concrete in the design, but never-the-less this type of 100% containment system is sometimes an option that suits specific types of land (very free draining) or specifications that might be set by local council / government departments / or industry standards.

Version (1) "SHALLOW BUNKER"

Shallow Bunker 100% containment, concrete with side kerbing.
The "shallow bunker" design offers the farmer a full containment system , and is not unlike a standard concrete feedpad in many ways.  It must include exterior kerbing and also a urine / wets run off catch tank that is placed within the confines of the shelters roof to eliminate any rainfall access. This floor may have rubber matting if required or simply operate as a concrete pad style system with controlled retained drainage.
The holding tank may be outside of the shelter also - however it will require a lid to eliminate any rainfall access.

Version (2) "MEDIUM BUNKER"

Medium Bunker 100% containment, concrete base, with side upstands + seasonal litter
The "medium bunker" design offers the farmer a full containment system , and is similar to the shallow bunker design in many aspects except if includes a seasonal soft floor material sitting on top (woodchip / post peelings / bark).  This medium bunker design includes a taller exterior upstand (up to 750mm) with urine / wets running off to a catch tank that is placed within the confines of the shelters roof to eliminate any rainfall access.
The holding tank may also be outside of the shelter - however it will require a lid to eliminate any rainfall entering.

The medium bunker is designed to have a shallow litter layer placed onto it for seasonal wintering use only.  Solids will be temporarily retained within the litter.  The advantage of including the litter component is for improved lying time, reduced lameness and allows longer standoff periods for cows when the weather is marginal or pasture is under pressure.

Version (3) "DEEP BUNKER"

The deep Bunker 100% containment, concrete base, with taller side upstands + long-term litter in-fill
The "deep bunker" design offers the farmer a full containment system but with the added benefit of the well proven Redpath deep-litter system for superior standoff durations.  The design includes taller exterior upstands (up to 1500mm)  with urine / wets running to a catch tank placed within the confines of the shelters roof to eliminate any rainfall access.
The holding tank may also be outside of the shelter - however it will require a lid to eliminate any rainfall entering.

The deep bunker design contains a deep bed of litter placed into it for long term wintering use. Solids are retained within the litter for the duration of the season.  The advantage of including this very deep litter is further improved lying time, reduced lameness, greater animal health, superior litter cleanliness / management and an even longer standoff duration compared the medium bunker system.
The deep bunker litter will typically be regularly stirred and mixed to maintain its cleanliness and consistency.
